Day 1 – Arrival to Lisbon
Welcome to Portugal’s vibrant capital city! Located on the Atlantic Ocean and spread across steep hillsides that overlook the Rio Tejo, Lisbon enchants travellers with its white-bleached limestone buildings, intimate alleyways, and stunning views from rooftop patios, making it a popular destination year-round. Day 2 – Lisbon
Today we explore Lisbon’s diverse neighbourhoods, sampling the traditional Portuguese delicacies that Lisbon has to offer. We will start at the market (Mercado da Ribiera) and head towards Baixa, discovering the best petiscos (Portuguese tapas) in the area, including salted codfish, spicy sardines, and a suckling pig sandwich. We will then head to Belem, a jewel in Lisbon’s crown, to view the UNESCO world heritage site the Torre de Belem (Tower of Belem). No tour to Belem is complete without visiting the world famous Pasteis de Belem cake shop, to sample their mouth-watering Pastel de Nata (Portugese custard tarts). The evening is yours to discover other parts of Lisbon, whether it be enjoying a cocktail on the terrace of the Hotel Bairro Alto, or dancing the night away on one of the bars on Rua Nova do Carvalho (the pink street) in Cais do Sodre.

Day 3 – Lisbon
We have another day to explore Lisbon. The afternoon is yours free to explore new sights, or brush up on your photography skills.

Day 4 – Lisbon to Óbidos and Porto
This morning after breakfast at the hotel, we will depart towards the medieval city of Óbidos, known as the chocolate land of Portugal, which is surrounded by ancient castle walls, and contains a labyrinth of cobblestoned streets. Spend a couple of hours wandering around the picturesque town, getting lost in the rich Roman history.
This afternoon we will continue on towards romantic Porto, the country’s second largest city, and of course, the birthplace of port. The afternoon is free to stroll along the enchanting Douro River or wander through the Ribeira district, Porto’s historic center and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 5 – Porto
Today we have the opportunity to get intimate with the stunning city of Porto. We will spend some time walking through Porto’s beautiful city centre, which has been continuously inhabited since at least the 4th Century. We will visit the old city center famous for its churches, as well as visit the new and contemporary part of the city.

Day 6 – Douro Valley
Portugal has seven unique wine regions, and Duoro Valley is quickly gaining a reputation for producing world class wine.
After breakfast at the hotel we will start out journey across the mountains and along the river to the Douro Valley, where we will visit some of the top quality wine producers who specialize in table wines, as well as Port.
We’ll stop to take a quick tour of Amarante city center, where we will visit the São Gonçalo Bridge and Church, enjoy some coffee, and taste some regional products. After we arrive in the Douro Valley, we will have the chance to visit two wineries: Quinta da Pacheca where we will enjoy a tasty lunch, and the famous Vallado, where we will stay at the Wine Hotel Quinta do Vallado.
We will have some free time for a relaxing swim at the hotel’s pool, and reconvene for dinner at the unique DOC Restaurant, located along the Douro River, opened by the famous Chef Riu Paula.

Day 7 – Inside the Douro Valley
After breakfast at the hotel, we will enjoy a boat ride on the Douro River and experience the gorgeous landscape of the region from another perspective. We will visit one of the most unique and exclusive Quintas of the region, Quinta do Crasto, located on the right bank of the Douro River, between the towns of Régua and Pinhão. Nestled on a privileged location in the Douro Demarcated Region, this 130 hectare property has belonged to the family of Leonor and Jorge Roquette for over a century. After a visit through the celled and an exclusive tasting, we will enjoy a traditional lunch, including wine pairings, port tasting, and sampling Quinta do Crasto’s exclusive olive oil. After lunch we have the afternoon to explore the village of Pinhão, the heart of the Douro Valley wine region. Evening and dinner is at your leisure.

Day 8 – Douro Valley to Sintra
After breakfast, we will say goodbye to our charming hotel and head towards majestic Sintra, the jewel of Portugal. When you step into Sintra, you’ll think you’ve been transported into a fairytale. This UNESCO World Heritage site is definitely a must-see in Portugal.
We start in Sintra’s town centre, and then visit Quinta da Regalerira, a whimsical estate complete with tunnelled paths underneath, and the mesmerizing Initiation Well, which was historically used for ceremonial purposes that included Tarot initiation rites. We will make our way to the Castle of the Moors, a hilltop medieval castle, where we will have a chance to conquer the walls and get a stunning view of the Pena Palace. Our last stop in Sintra is the Pena National Palace, which is a colourful, magical palace and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. We will have the change to explore the Palace inside and out, and discover the treasures within. Around every corner there is another dazzling sight to see.

Day 9 – Sintra
We will have an early breakfast this morning, and revisit magical Sintra. This time, you can head back to the sights you’ve already seen to get your perfect photo, with fewer people in it, or head someplace new. After a full morning in Sintra, we will have the chance to have lunch near a beach and visit Cascais, before heading back to Lisbon, where we will have our farewell dinner at Fado Restaurant.

Day 10 – Depart Lisbon
This is our last day in beautiful Portugal. Depart from Lisbon at anytime or contact us for an extension to Spain!
