THE ULTIMATE BOTSWANA SAFARI ADVENTURE

Vast. Untamed. Remote. This is the Ultimate Botswana Safari from the Kwando Concession to the Okavango Delta to the Nxai Pans.

Create lifelong memories together on an epic journey through Botswana’s most exciting and diverse regions. This Botswana Wildlife Safari boasts uncrowded sightings in the wildest areas. This extraordinary, luxury safari experience encompasses 3 unique and diverse regions in Botswana.

Kwando Private Concession
Be left in awe. The Kwando Private Reserve in the greater Kwando-Linyanti region spans an area 40 times the size of Manhattan. Sprawling over 232,000 hectares of unspoiled wilderness in northern Botswana (opposite Namibia’s Zambezi Region), this is a piece of very wild bush, and its astonishing ecological integrity supports incredible biodiversity. Off-road adventures track lions, leopards, cheetahs, and the swift African wild dogs.

Kwara Private Concession
The Kwara Private Concession spans 175,000-hectares in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta and it’s where the wild things truly are. Here, papyrus-fringed channels weave through floodplains and savanna scrub, which leads to mopane woodlands, creating a mosaic of habitats that shelter everything from elusive sitatunga to swaggering lions. It’s raw, remote, and ridiculously rewarding — just how a safari should be.

Nxai Pan National Park
Nxai Pan National Park is where epic skies meet shimmering salt pans and ancient baobabs pose like giant bonsai trees. It is dazzling, dusty terrain during the dry season with white pans stretching to the horizon, scattered with springbok, oryx, and the occasional lion padding across like royalty. Game drives here are about wide horizons, surprise sightings, and the magic of big, empty spaces, but you can also expect elephants at the waterhole and bat-eared foxes scrambling through the scrubland while giraffes gaze on.

DAY 1-3: WELCOME TO BOTSWANA – LEBALA CAMP

Welcome to Maun, Botswana! You will be met at Maun International Airport to board your Moremi Air flight to Lebala Camp. If you would like to spend the night in Maun the day before, that can easily be arranged by us.

THE LEBALA CAMP STORY
The name Lebala means ‘wide open space’ in Setswana, and it’s not just a place but a feeling: endless skies, golden floodplains, and that thrilling sense that you might be the one being watched.

Once the secret stomping ground of bushmen and early explorers, this is one of the wildest corners of the country. Tucked into a southern corner of the Kwando Private Concession (shared with only one other stay — Lagoon Camp), you have exclusive access to over 230,000 hectares of pristine wilderness. This is where the wild things roam (and occasionally nap in the shade). No fences, no crowds, no problem.

Since its early days, Lebala has always been a go-to for hardcore safari lovers who like their gin and tonics shaken and stirred by an off-road game drive. Lebala is famous for its predator action, particularly the high-speed drama of African wild dogs and cheetahs. Elephants, sable antelope, lions, leopards, and hyenas also roam freely. Expert guides know the bush like a second skin, so you can follow them off-road and even after dark using a spotlight. Like all Kwando Camps, the guiding teams are legendary. Trackers and guides work in tandem. A two-person approach means you’re more likely to catch that leopard in the thicket before it melts away.

The rooms are a seamless extension of the landscape: wild, warm, and wonderfully in tune with the rhythms of the bush. Stretched along a shady leadwood island, each room is positioned for privacy and panoramic views and is built on a raised wooden platform with mesh windows that let the breeze (and bush sounds) roll right in. So you can watch and hear that herd of elephants rumble past your deck with all the nonchalance of a Monday morning commute.

THE CAMP
The main area is built on stilts above the fluctuating swamps of the Kwando River and has an unfussy but comfortable, homely atmosphere. Pull up to the bar and help yourself to a drink while watching the weaver birds in the reeds or scanning for lions.

Facilities:
– Spacious open-sided dining, lounge and bar areas below thatched roofing and firepit area
– Raised viewing deck and hide overlooking the marsh and Lebala Channel
– Swimming pool
– Safari shop
– Complimentary laundry service
– Solar power with backup generators
– Limited Connectivity (Wi-Fi)

ACTIVITIES

Unbeatable Off-Road Tracking
The Kwando Private Concession is 40 times larger than Manhattan.

– Track big game and big drama in predator central
– Feel the thrill of off-roading freedom in a private concession

Okavango Delta Wildlife Safari - Botswana Safari

DAYS 4-6: SPLASH CAMP

Today, you’ll be transferred to the airstrip for your short flight over the Okavango Delta to Splash Camp.

THE SPLASH CAMP STORY
Location, location, location. This is classic Okavango territory: a maze of water channels, woodlands, and open plains.
Splash is built on decades of wilderness know-how, heart-pounding sightings, and a commitment to doing safari right.
Like much of Botswana’s wilderness in the mid-to-late 20th century, these lands were once leased to trophy hunting operations, and the Kwara Private Concession was a hunting block.

Hunting camps were basic setups, seasonal and mobile, built for hunters seeking buffalo, lion, leopard, and elephant — the very animals that now draw camera-toting tourists instead of rifles. The focus was on tracking big game on foot or vehicle, often guided by trackers and experienced professional hunters. While the ethics of trophy hunting is a hot debate today, the revenue from these operations helped preserve vast tracts of wilderness at a time when few other land uses were viable.

In the late 1990s, Botswana pivoted toward low-impact, high-value tourism, and Kwando Safaris was among the pioneers of the movement from consumptive tourism to photographic safaris. We took over the lease and converted the area from hunting to a premier photographic destination.

The legendary Kwara Private Concession remained famous for incredible predator action, permanent water channels, and exclusive access. We’ve taken everything we’ve learned from decades of guiding and guest feedback and turned it into a flagship safari experience. The result? A modern but natural camp that seamlessly blends into its surroundings and feels at once adventurous and luxurious. The old hunting site was used to create Splash Camp and embrace modern safari comforts without losing that raw, untamed feel. Spread out around a permanent pan, the main areas and tents all face water, giving guests a constant connection to wildlife activity — from elephants and lechwe to the occasional predator popping by for a drink.

ACTIVITIES
Splash Camp is strategically situated at the heart of the Okavango Delta, beside a lively waterhole within the game-rich Kwara Private Concession.

Sharing permanent waterways with the Moremi Game Reserve, this renowned private concession is home to vast herds of plains game – and the predators that stalk them.

DAY 3: NXAI PAN CAMP

Today, you’ll be transferred to the airstrip for your Moremi Air flight over the Okavango Delta to Nxai Pan National Park.

The only permanent camp in the Nxai Pan National Park.
The Nxai Pan Story
Nxai Pan Camp is the only camp in Nxai Pan National Park, a place famous for its seasonal zebra migration, ancient baobabs, and a stillness that allows you to hear your own heartbeat.

This is a stark, otherworldly expanse where gemsbok and springbok roam the dusty plains in the dry months, and elephants file past camp in a steady procession, drawn to the waterhole like clockwork. But the rains arrive, and a lush green wonderland erupts, teeming with thousands of zebras on Africa’s second-largest migration, followed closely by prowling predators.

Once upon a salt pan, this was the Superlake Makgadikgadi, an ancient inland sea that dried up thousands of years ago, leaving behind open grasslands, surreal salt flats, and stories written in sand. Take a trip with our desert guides and trackers to uncover them.

Travel to the legendary Baines’ Baobabs and follow in the footsteps of explorer David Livingstone and feel the stillness of centuries past. This iconic cluster of ancient baobab trees not far from camp, once stood on the shores of this great lake. Painted by Thomas Baines in 1862, the massive baobab trunks defy the passage of time and are still unchanged. Explore more and you might uncover other relics…

ACTIVITIES
Explore the fossilised salt pans to look for lions, learn about traditional San survival skills or visit the Kudiakam salt pan and its island of ancient baobab trees, where David Livingstone camped out on his expeditions, and enjoy a picnic lunch.
Activities at Nxai Pan Camp are restricted to national park opening hours with no off-road driving permitted.
– Bushman Walks
– Game Drives
– Baines’ Baobabs
– Helicopter Safari

This Madkgadikgadi Salt Pans safari is ideal for witnessing the Zebra Migration, visiting Baines’ Baobabs, and engaging with the time-honoured Bushmen traditions.

– Visit Baines’ Baobabs. Roam an island of ancient trees surrounded by salt pans where David Livingstone camped during 19th-century expeditions
